With all the Javascript fun going around everywhere, I have decided to join in. I just spent a couple of hours this afternoon converting one my personal projects, the Traffic Checker AJAX Mashup, to take advantage of the jQuery JavaScript library. jQuery is pretty sweet and such a compact library. It allows me to get rid of all of the onClick and onFocus attributes within my XHTML markup and essentially realize the concept of separation of JavaScript for controlling behavior, CSS for formatting structure, and XHTML for marking up content. jQuery XPath allows me to traverse through the DOM beautifully.
On top of that, I also eliminated of a number of XHTML 1.0 Strict Validator’s warnings that were left from last time.
Maybe for my next experiment, just to experiment with different libraries and frameworks, I shall add subtle animations to one of my projects.
In the meantime, visit Allison’s Flickr for some cool dance performance pics I took of her the weekend before last.
By the way, why doesn’t anybody comment on my blog anymore? I am talking about the people who usually comment before, yes…you! Hphmm!

Hey, nice job with the conversion. I haven’t seen many Google Maps hacks done with jQuery, so this is good. One quick bug: If I enter a custom location (such as Cambridge, MA) and then click ‘Plot Traffic’, it shows the traffic for the old location (back in CA). Plot Accidents works as expected, though. Keep up the good work!
