Thanks Allison, for hijacking my blog to write about my new revamped portfolio page. Over the weekend, I’ve managed to update it quite a bit with more projects that I worked on in the past. The new revamped portfolio page is by no mean my complete history of work. There are a number of web sites that I did 3+ years back that are no longer online. Therefore, I have chosen to leave them out of my new portfolio. Go check it out! By the way, you can click on the any of the screenshots to go directly to the corresponding web site.
More on web development, I spent some time this Saturday upgrading my current ongoing pet project, the World Cup Pickr, to the latest version (0.11.2) of Yahoo! User Interface Library. I do plan on adding the logger control component in the near future as the main JavaScript for the Pickr is getting more complicated everyday.
I fixed a few bugs, optimized a few algorithm, and added the new “Target Link” to the Pickr. The Pickr is currently working in two “A-Grade” browsers, Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox. However, I have yet to test the Pickr on Safari. I will definitely do that tonight on Allison’s new MacBook.
The new “Target Link” was implemented in preparation to connecting components in the front-end to the back-end, either asynchronously (AJAX/PHP/MySQL) or synchronously. After you have dragged and dropped/double clicked on all of the teams to promote them to their appropriate slots in the tournament table, you will be instructed by the step indicator at the very top of the page to go ahead and click on any slots in the tournament table to correctly pick your correct prediction (even though FIFA 2006 is over, this web application can be applied to any other sports). As you are going through the tournament table and picking your predicted combination, there is a live link right above the tournament table that is updated continuously whenever you modify your selection. This link, as I plan, will be the basis of the connection between the front-end to the back-end as I further delve into this project. Check it out and let me know what you think!
